Even more Questions

You may get this more if you read (or re-read) these older posts: "A Serious One" from 4/6/08 "Alphabet diseases" from 11/13/07 and "Questions" from 1/20/08 I am still trying to get answers to the Questions asked in the post above. I have not found any that are worthy of printing. I have come up with more questions: How does one handle seeing the continual decline of their spouse and not being able to do a thing about it? How do you take the inability of your 53 year old wife to get out of bed, or in and out of the shower unaided? How do you answer questions that beg not to be asked, like: will I see Bailey (our daughter, a rising senior)graduate; will Hannah (our granddaughter - almost 3) remember me; or will I see Landon (or grandson - 6 months) walk? How do you comfort your bride of 35+ years when she looks at you with tears streaming down her face? Most of all, how do you offer support and help when you are so damn mad at the world and the situa

I have not felt very "bloggish" lately, so this is just to get a post out there to keep Blogspot/Blogger from shutting this baby down. I am in Las Vegas now getting ready to head home tomorrow. I promise a real post within this week. Later

Again with the Memories...

"WOW, are those real?" if I had a dime for every time I heard that one. I remember one summer I worked for my cousin Vlad. He ran a small business (wait for it..) making equipment for flea circuses. (there it is!) We made infinitesimally small bicycles, monkey bars, merry-go-rounds, wagons, and my favorite - wheels of death; among other things. It wasn't a great business, but Vlad loved it. It was ironic that Vlad should be involved with such small things as he was afflicted with Marfan Syndrome and Acromegaly. He was about 8ft tall with an arm span of over 8ft. It was funny seeing him working on a bicycle that was smaller than the nail on his little finger! Vlad had a strange hobby; he raised fainting goats. If you have never seen one of these, go to You Tube and search for them. They are great. When startled, they tense up, get all stiff legged and fall over. It is hilarious! Vlad was a hoot when he would rise to his full height and charge the goats with his tremendou

Holiday - Shmoliday - or - Lizards in miniskirts

This is the morning after our nation's "birthday" - July 5th. I was reflecting on the previous days activities and my mind wandered to the general state of holiday celebrations nowadays. I know there are a lot of flags flown, red-white-and-blue bunting, playing of Lee Greenwood's song, and such; but I am not sure how much people really realize what the 4th of July is about. The only one that seems to really "win" in all this is Lee Greenwood (I guess that's his name - "I'm Proud to be an American...") because he probably gets more in royalties the week of July 4th than he does the rest of the year! Now I'm not the type to dress up as Uncle Sam and wave the flag at passing cars (more likely to dress my dog up as Uncle Sam and moon the passing cars, but I digress), but I think July 4th, like most "patriotic-type" holidays (Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, etc) are pretty much a day off from work for most. Now, I understand that
