OK, I am going to try to keep this one simple and to the point. As Americans we are used to wishing "Happy..." for a lot of observances. "Happy Birthday", "Happy Anniversary", and for holidays like "Happy Independence Day", etc., etc, I am writing this on Memorial Day. Yesterday I saw a comment somewhere saying: "Don't say Happy Memorial Day!" Now my first thought was "here go the speech police again!" or similar. Today I saw another comment with the same statement: "Don't say Happy Memorial Day!" But it went on and made the issue that this is not to be a "happy" day. This day is for the observance of those men and women that have died in the service of our country. It is to "memorialize" their sacrifice.
