JUST SOME POSTS

This is another post for which the idea has been floating around in my cranium for some time. The absolute insanity surrounding the evil coronavirus and political situation has prompted me to do my best to get it written. We are a world divided. We have the poor and rich, the white and people of color, democrats and republicans, men and women, religious and non-religious, old and young, new world and old world - or third world, and many, many other definitions and labels. Then those labelled groups have their divisions within. The religious groups are divided between Christianity, Islam, Hinduism (considered in the Eastern world to be much more than a religion, but for this we will go with the flow of Western thought), Buddhism (also not strictly a religion, it is considered one by most, again especially in Western culture), Judaism, Sikhism, and others. Then within those are many divisions. For example, within Islam are the main divisions of Sunni and Shia. Christianity has Protesta...

I have noticed a lot of people that think Trump has been convicted of something or is now being put out of office. Here is a basic explanation of where we are now in this great journey curated by the Democrat party. President Trump has been impeached. I think the confusion comes from a lot of people not knowing what that actually means. Impeachment essentially means that the President (or any other government employee that is subject to impeachment) has had charges drawn up against him. The Democrats in the House have decided to advance with articles of impeachment against President Trump as I am writing this. Although they could change one, both, or add to them prior to the formal presentation for a vote in the House chamber; the two at this time are: (note: these are NOT to be considered legal presentations or arguments - these are simplifications that are factually presented - as I know them - they are not meant to offer all the complexity or nuances of the actual legal issues) 1) Abuse of Power by the President.     This is related to the call and the claim that President Trump threatened, bribed, or otherwise pressured the President of Ukraine to "dig up dirt" by an investigation into former Vice-President Joe Biden and his son's actions relating to a job his son took in Ukraine. I have tried to somewhat stay away from the political battles going on, but I have been stewing on some "stuff" for a while now. So, here we go... There seems to be a tremendous outcry of things President Trump has said or done in running the government. (an understatement maybe?) Since neither Civics nor Political Science are taught much at all any more I wanted to remind (or maybe let some know for the first time) some facts about how our government was designed and is set up to be run. ( A note: if you are not into a civics lesson and want to get to the "point" of this - scroll down to the line -------- and start there ) Ultimately, but indirectly, the government is run my us - We the People. We do that through voting every 2, 4, and/or 6 years depending on the elected office. This is one that I have had in my head for a while. I did some research to bolster my knowledge and facts and then did not do the post. So, I reacquainted myself with some more study and I am actually going to write something this time. This is NOT meant to be an all-encompassing intellectual discussion. There will be liberties taken with some of the terms and thoughts. These are my own.
