Follow Ups and a thought

I got a FEW comments and suggestions on my request from my last blog, but NOT ENOUGH!! Come on everyone, give it up! This is a good time to ask for any and all of you to start spreading this around. Anyone that you feel would enjoy and/or profit from this blog - let them know about it. I want to start getting comments from a BUNCH of people. As for the additional family names here they are - (edited by me, I did not take them all - hey I rule here!) The Godfather of Soul (I thought I did that one, but I did not go look), Father of Soul (not sure who that is!), Shaq Daddy, Big Daddy Kane (rapper for those of you not in the know), the Osmond Brothers, Grandfather of Poker (I did not know who this was either), boys of summer (another I thought I did), Son of Sam, Daughters of the American Revolution, City of Brotherly Love, Mother Bear, Papa Bear, Baby Bear. I have the Sons of the Confederacy. And, I have a thought. I just saw one of those sappy emails with the quotes and the beautiful scenery, but it had some good thoughts. One I liked and have now adapted and stolen is regarding wealth. My thoughts follow. Thoughout my adult life I have been asked what I want as a gift (or gifts) at give giving times (birthdays, Christmas, etc) I usually can't think of much if anything. (I have gift cards totalling over $150 that are from two Christmases ago!) I just don't have many wants. That brings me to my profound thought - The difference in being rich and being poor is the gap between what you have and what you want. When you are poor, there are a lot of needs that are in the wants. When you get money, the needs are taken care of. The wants become just wants for the sake of having a bigger or better "thing" than what you already have. My needs are usually met, my wants are modest............. I guess that makes me a rich man.

Even more Questions

You may get this more if you read (or re-read) these older posts: "A Serious One" from 4/6/08 "Alphabet diseases" from 11/13/07 and "Questions" from 1/20/08 I am still trying to get answers to the Questions asked in the post above. I have not found any that are worthy of printing. I have come up with more questions: How does one handle seeing the continual decline of their spouse and not being able to do a thing about it? How do you take the inability of your 53 year old wife to get out of bed, or in and out of the shower unaided? How do you answer questions that beg not to be asked, like: will I see Bailey (our daughter, a rising senior)graduate; will Hannah (our granddaughter - almost 3) remember me; or will I see Landon (or grandson - 6 months) walk? How do you comfort your bride of 35+ years when she looks at you with tears streaming down her face? Most of all, how do you offer support and help when you are so damn mad at the world and the situa

SHUT 'ER DOWN!!

 Well, even though the media is doing what they always do and making the budget dispute now seem to be unique and disastrous, it is neither. Just since 1980 there have been 10 government shutdowns. Some were for only certain branches of the government (in a bit of disclosure, I am not sure how the government can only shut down only some parts) and some were for only one day (actually only part of one day).  The last two were during the Trump administration. Those times the executive branch (Trump administration) wanted to set some limits on spending and the Democratic controlled Congress did not. The entire government was shut down for three days in January 2018 and then in December of 2018 the majority of the government was shut down for 35 days into January of 2019.  During the Obama administration there was a complete government shutdown for 16 days. The Obama administration was trying to increase spending and the Republican led Congress was trying to set limits. (See the previous p
