The Doctor is In! (or is he OUT?)

The "woke" warriors that are now trying to save us from anything they consider the least bit offensive have gone after another icon - Theodor Geisel better known as Dr. Seuss.

The Dr. Seuss books have now been determined to be racist and show stereotypes that will have a negative effect on the development of the children that read them. smh

I figured these revised books may be more fitting in today's society:

Dr. Seuss aka Theodor Geisel was a known fighter against racism and discrimination. Did he use depictions and symbols that are now seen as offensive? Yes, to some. But to repeat something I wrote a while back:

"Our view of the past will always be distorted when seen through the lens of the present"

Erasing history or trying to make if fit neatly into our world view today (or to be more correct - a small minority view, imho), is pointless and harmful for those that are actually trying to grow as humans.

a note: I am not that good at photo manipulation - those 4 took me almost 2 hours! I learned some things in doing these and the last definitely went quicker than the first though. I may do more as I enjoyed the result; but I had to quit at 4 due to time! Just another mention - the mask comments are not meant to be in protest or start an argument, these are just the first 4 Dr. Seuss books that I could think of a witty change for the title.

Fame is Fleeting and some bug stuff

Well I am writing this from the scene of one of my latest moments of glory - the Comfort Suites in Colonial Heights, Va. For those of you that do not take notes of all my achievements - that was the hotel where I was (drum roll please - ) Guest of the Day about a month ago. I drove up (and parked in the Platinum Elite member space - I might add) gathered my goodies and headed in. I thought of pulling a hat down over my head and putting my collar up to hide from the photographers and autograph fans, but I had no hat and the crowds just were not really a problem. I ambled to the front desk and it was the same girl! Surely here the recognition would reign! But as I approached her I glanced to the reader board - the same reader board that not so long ago was praising me as Guest of the Day! I staggered a bit under the realization that there was another name on MY sign! Then it hit me - Guest of the Day! I had lived my glorious 24 hours and now it was time to move on. OH WOE IS ME. I curse ...

A Three Hour Tour, or, Perchance to drown

Imagine you and your spouse, or significant other, are on a nice boat ride called life. You are on this inconceivably large boat in a sea of unimaginable size on a trip of indeterminate length. Once in a while, you go through some beautiful. almost indescribable days where birds sing, wonderful angelic music accompanies you in your daily activities , and everything you want is there before you. Then there are the dark and stormy days where all you can do is hold on to the rail and upchuck your lunch into the water. Most of the days, however, are just a boat ride. One day your spouse falls overboard, fully clothed, and for no apparent reason. You quickly toss them a line, and say"hold on, I'll get you out!" There is no reason to panic, people fall into the water all the time. Plus, they are a fairly strong swimmer, we will get them out. So, you start pulling on the rope. After pulling and pulling you notice they are not any closer to the boat. You decide you need help....
